A remarkably sunny oriole songbird nestled amongst a blooming peony plant. Orioles strike me as a very summer bird because of their yellow plumage. I chose metallic gold as its background to mirror that and provide the same warm glow of summer in a glance. The gold paint has a slight texture to it from the roughened wood of the panel. This original painting is 8 by 8 inches.
The peonies are more purple than pink, but the camera does tend to make them show up as pink (see the two photos of the wood panel painting hanging on the wall). The other photos show them as true to life as I can pick up in photo form.
I’ve painted the edges of this artwork so a frame is not necessary unless it is desired. The overhang of the wood panel makes it excellent for hanging on a nail or wall tab.
