Additional Information
Should you have any need, whether general questions or concerns about your order, I’m always available via the contact form on my website or by email at cyanowl.art@gmail.com
SHIPPING TIMES
Items are typically either ready to ship or made to order, and I try my best to state so on an item’s page.
Ready to ship items will typically be shipped out within 2-5 business days. Sometimes during high volumes of orders (like scheduled shop updates) it may take 7 business days.
Made to order items tend to take 4-8 weeks as they are created from scratch upon your purchase.
If you need something by a certain time PLEASE reach out and/or purchase expedited shipping options.
My default shipping is USPS ground advantage, and shipped out from my studio in Charleston SC. If you are interested in other options or shipping upgrades please reach out. Likewise, if you have a timeframe you need something by please let me know! I can't guarantee shorter timeframes for making items, and rush fees may apply, but I will do my best.
USPS operates on their own timeframe and the amount of time can vary from a lot of factors.
INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING
Customers are responsible for any additional customs, tariff, or tax fees that may apply to your order. I personally don’t collect taxes or VAT fees on your behalf (It is a lot for a one person artist run business)
If you’re interested in fees being collected beforehand, I recommend you purchase through my Etsy store, as they tend to be able to collect taxes for some countries. (www.cyanowl.etsy.com) even so, additional fees may still apply.
CUSTOM CREATIONS
I offer limited slots for making custom commissioned items, whether paintings or jewelry. Please reach out with your idea of your custom item and we can start discussing availability and if I can make it happen. Email me at cyanowl.art@gmail.com
General About Cyan Owl
What is Cyan Owl? It’s the art and handmade creations of owner/artist Catherine Morrissey.
Cyan Owl is a very small business (it’s literally me) based out of my studio in North Charleston SC, surrounded by my gardens, rescue dog Autumn (break coordinator), rescue cat Maple (supervisor), two rescued rabbits Fern and Willow, and my backyard chickens/feathered dinosaurs.
Cyan Owl is named after my adoration of all things blue, combined with my reverence for owls. Heavily inspired by nature and a bit of enchantment.
You may be more familiar with my Etsy store, but after 10+ years on Etsy I’ve decided to slowly shift to my own shop as well. I have a ton of reviews from over the years, if you’re ever unsure and want to see other reviews, take a look and find all my shop reviews under cyanowl.
JEWELRY CARE
I strive to made quality, durable jewelry crafted of primarily sterling silver. However, for optimum care of your jewelry I recommend:
keep your jewelry stored away in a dry place when not in wear, preferably out of the sun. Sterling silver tarnishes with exposure to air and water, and some gemstones can fade with excessive sunlight.
if you’re doing anything active, I recommend take your jewelry off. While I design my jewelry to be durable, natural gems and stones are not always durable and they can have internal inclusions and weak spots. Sweat can also speed up tarnish.
Avoid wearing your jewelry while cleaning or in pools. Chemicals can damage gemstones and will tarnish your silver more readily than normal water.
This could mean tarnish on some of the under gemstone designs.
To clean your jewelry I recommend using gentle dish soap and a toothbrush. Especially for rings, it’s always amazing how much gunk accumulates! Let your jewelry dry before storing.
If you’ve noticed your silver darkening, I recommend using a sunshine polishing cloth. I tend to provide small Sunshine polishing cloths with each jewelry order, but larger ones can be purchased from suppliers online.
Additional Safety Information
All jewelry is created by Cyan Owl using only 925 sterling silver (which is a combination of silver and copper) completely from scratch. Sterling silver is safe for most folks, however, people who are sensitive to metals should monitor their skin
Occasionally, some of my jewelry will also have brass or copper accents, but the individual item listing would specify that for you. Since I make everything myself from scratch I can confirm the materials precisely from my suppliers.
My jewelry is not intended for children because of small pieces. I don’t recommend eating silver, copper, or gemstones under any circumstances. Keep in mind my work is heirloom quality and I recommend waiting for it to be given at an age where the person can fully appreciate wearing quality jewelry.
Jewelry should not be a safety concern when properly worn under usual circumstances. I personally have worn and tested my jewelry, and if anything feels off or performs poorly I fix it as such. If you are doing anything active or with machinery/fast moving parts, please use common sense and take off jewelry or anything that might cause you to be caught or injured (it’s not worth it!).
