This necklace is inspired by antique sepia painted jewelry of sailing ships and anchors. Some seemed to be given to loved ones upon an ocean journey, and some I suspect are for mourning and grief.
I hand sawed out this whole scene of a miniature ship complete with sails, the ocean, billowing clouds, and a crescent moon guiding the voyage. The necklace is encircled by twisted rope border,and a single black star sapphire crowns the top of the pendant. The back has an engraving of an anchor, along with the phrase " not lost but gone before". This was a fairly common phrase on antique mourning jewelry, and it resonates with me in my grieving.
This is a larger (and somewhat hefty) pendant than I usually make, so I suggest a sturdy chain for it. I have two sterling silver options available for it.
