This is an original painting on a 6 inch round wood panel, complete with finished wire hanging to place on a wall.
A female hummingbird rests amongst the a bramble of star jasmine vines, bumblebees buzzing around her. I painted this work with multiple layers of watercolor paint and golden ink on top of a wood panel surface. Part of what I love about this technique is that you can see the wood grain show through. You can also see some of the metallic ink shimmer on the painting depending on light. The edge is stained with indigo watercolor, and the panel has been given a matte varnish spray to protect it.
